Decoding the horoscope of the Zodiac in the cards of the Major Arcana Tarot
“Visconti – Sforza” “Pierpont Morgan – Bergamo” – Zodiac
A.S. Volkov
- The Sun, The Sun.
This card contains astronomical symbols and elements of the horoscope.
The map shows a boy angel floating on a cloud and carrying the Sun head in his hands. As the research of “New Chronology” and N.A. Morozov on the analysis of elements of the zodiac horoscopes shows, non-static figures often denote planets. The boy angel swims to the left, as determined by the position of the legs, he looks back to the right, conditionally onto the previous card, which is the previous sign of the Zodiac. And, as if repelled from it with one foot, as if flying away from it on a cloud, into the current sign of the Zodiac. (If I edit this line anymore, I may lose the full gist of it. G.B.)
In this part, the leg remains outside the map, that is, symbolically in this previous zodiac sign. Perhaps this is not just a boy angel with wings, but the male planet Mercury, which at the same time, just came out of the previous constellation.
Why Mercury?
For Saturn, this is a much too joyful and happy image of the planet.
“Perpont Morgan – Bergamo” there are two other cards, with very characteristic symbols, these are “Strength” and “Justice”. Indirectly, in favor of the fact that on this card the planet is represented in the image of a boy-angel, Mercury says that the word “Angel” in translation means “Herald”. (I have left this translation. It’s a bit higgeldy but still understandable G.B.)
From mythology it is known that the god Mercury was a messenger, a messenger who communicated the will of Jupiter to all the other gods and mortal people.
An interesting detail of the image is a belt waving in the wind or a scarf that twines around a boy angel. Looking ahead, I note that only on one card Tarot deck “Pierpont Morgan – Bergamo”– “Strength” has the same image detail.
In addition, on the card of “Power” the protagonist of the image as well as the boy angel Mercury looks back at the next card to the right, symbolically at the next sign of the Zodiac. I would suggest that these elements of the image, the attributes of the characters of the Tarot cards: a red scarf waving in the wind, a character’s gaze, a staff, a club, a jug and so on facing the adjacent card may indicate the position of the planet symbolized by this character relative to the border between constellations. Given this assumption, we can say that the boy-angel Mercury either just came out of the neighboring constellation or is near the border of the neighboring, previous constellation.
It should be further noted that the angel boy holds the Sun very closely above him, so that he partially covers his head. Astronomically, this can mean a strong convergence between a boy-planet, possibly Mercury, and the Sun.
Moreover, the angel boy even squints his eyes, the Sun shines so much – it is so close to the angel boy Mercury. This is very important, for the dating of the Zodiac, the astronomical characteristic of the joint arrangement of the Sun and Mercury.
Apparently, this astronomical meaning was not understood by modern card publishers, since on the reprint Tarot cards “Pierpont Morgan – Bergamo” there is no such feature, the eyes of the boy-angel are open.
Thus, it can be assumed that both the Sun and Mercury are located near the border of one of the constellations. I will make one more assumption.
As the Mercury boy-angel with the Sun-head floats on the cloud from right to left and the sequence of passing the Zodiac signs by the Sun from Capricorn to Sagittarius, the sequence of the Tarot cards under investigation with the corresponding symbols of the Zodiac signs will also alternate from right to left. (Bold characters are mine here G.B.)
And what symbol, and what constellation is depicted on the card?
I suggest that this is the cloud and the constellation Pisces. Why?
Taking into account the results of studies on the position of the planet Venus in the zodiac signs (Venus near the left border of the Aquarius constellation), as well as its astronomical laws of motion relative to the Sun (maximum distance 48 degrees), we can assume that the Sun may be in the Zodiac signs Aries, Pisces, Aquarius or Capricorn. On the card “The Sun” there is not one characteristic of the signs of the Zodiac, Capricorn or Aries symbol.
The characteristic symbolism of the Zodiac sign Aquarius is depicted on the “Moderation” card, (Temperance G.B.) but there is no symbolism of the Sun there. As for the card “Devil”, presumably with the symbolism of the constellation Capricorn, the original image of this card has not been preserved.
But even assuming that the Sun is in Capricorn, considering the position of Venus on the left border of Aquarius, it should be in the middle, and not at the border of this constellation, as symbolically shown on the card under study.
Given these comments, I will suggest that the Sun and Mercury, depicted on the “Sun” card, are in the constellation Pisces near the border with the constellation Aquarius. However, the calculations will check the positions of the Sun in all the supposed constellations.
According to the study, the Sun card of the Tarot deck Perpont Morgan-Bergamo has the following astronomical significance, the Sun and Mercury, are in the constellation Pisces near the border with the constellation Aquarius. In addition, the planet Mercury has just emerged or may even be partially in the constellation Aquarius, while it has become very close to the Sun.
