When life gets a bit ridiculous, I always turn to something sublime.
This film gives me vivid memories. 1983. Berlin. Checkpoint Bravo.
Yes. I spent ’83, ’84 in Berlin as RMP (look it up) We worked Checkpoints Alpha, Bravo and Charlie alongside American and French. Also Tiergarten, the Wall and Spandau!! Yes, Hess.
My leaving “DO” was in a Russian hotel in East Berlin! The first time I ever drank vodka.
Checkpoint Bravo controlled “the Corridor” into Berlin. (Look it up) And on one very boring night shift, we had a TV. We watched French TV. We watched American TV. Then we watched Monty Python and the Holy Grail. Me and my oppo were the only ones who laughed. How times change.
Sublime ridiculousness rules :o)
