I live in Victorian Rectory. A vicarage….just behind the village church.

For the past few years the church has been on/off renovated and a new steeple built. It was all finished the end of last year and the clock reinstated. Not the picture above. I only wish. Sigh.

Yippee, said I. We will hear the clock chime again.

Nah!

One person in the village complained long and loud and publicly about the noise a chiming clock makes. The same person who complained about the village roosters crowing!!

Anyhoo – I have spent this last weekend being freaked out by a strange beeping sound. I am running round the house checking all the computers, electrics etc for the source. Muttering…. WTF is going on?

I’ve just learned that the Very Annoying Bloody BEEP is our new church clock.

Save Our Souls. Madness beeps electronically every hour, on the hour.

The bells, the bells. Bring back the Bells.
