Below is a book about 12th Century mechanical devices.
It’s interesting and lovely on many levels but I’m finding the clocks very confusing. Now I may have misread/misunderstood but sometimes it talks about a 24 hour day.
Then a bit later it talks about the 14 and a half hours of the longest day – sunrise to sunset.
Then it talks about time candles which mark the 10 hour day. 10 hour night.
Has someone shorten our hours?
Anyway –
I have a fancy for this Elephant Water Clock that flutes and tinkles :o)

It is from this 12th Century Book
Book of Knowledge of Ingenious Mechanical Devices
And how about this super-duper speed boat?
