Romany Gypsy

When you think of CARAVAN, what do you see?

Maybe this…

Or this…..

The cartoon above is my summer reality. Our main road is usually all blocked with zillions of ugly white caravans, all en route to the local seaside town.

The gypsy caravans are gorgeous.

But, for me, a caravan is this…

The Romany/Gypsies are well-known for being outside of society, wanderers, horse people, tribal, family-orientated……borderless.

This could be because they are a people whose history goes back to the times of Christ and beyond.

A people whose role was to guard the extensive routes of a Great Empire, safely moving travellers of all kinds and their goods many thousands of miles.

Forever peripatetic, never settling anywhere for any length of time.

Expert navigators.

Experts at living off and with the land, carrying very few permanent possessions.

Remnants of the once vast Romean/Tartarian Empire.

I love this thought.

P.S. In case you’all hadn’t noticed – I’m Back ;o)
