Dorothy Dunnett – What DID she know? – Hidden History Research

Respect is not a word I use lightly, or very often but the one-and-only-historical-fiction writer that I give Respect to is Dorothy Dunnett.

If you don’t know her vast body of work, then this will mean nothing. If you do – you will not like what I’m about to say!

What did DD actually know? What was she writing truly about?

If I were to summarise her work it would take a hundred different posts but…almost every step I take on this Hidden History journey brings me to thinking about her and her books.

Also a thought that never leaves is the fact that one her and her husband’s closest friends was Ian Fleming.

When Fleming announced to her that he was going to create the Best Ever spy the world has ever known, DD said that she would create the Best Ever Romantic Historical Fiction Hero ever known.

If you’ve met Lymond on her pages……………… Well, ( be still my beating heart) I’d take him over James Bond any day of the week :o)
