Vladychny Dvor and The Faceted Chamber

I’m still in Novgorod….mmmmn.. seem to’ve lost my passport and return ticket. (Deja vu!)

Anyways – might as well enjoy the scenery.

In the Chronicle, there’s mention of the Archbishop’s Palace in Novgorod. It was magnificent, with many windows and thirty doors. And, in reality, it was the Voivode’s palace. The Prince. The Tsar. Archbishops were yet to come.

So. Where to find this architectural gem in modern Novgorod?

It’s here….

And the image at the top is a drawing of the location…the Vladychny Dvor. Kremlin citadel by the Metropolitan Tower.

Disappointed!

This looks far too mundane. Thirty doors? Lots of windows?

Something is not quite right here, methinks :o)
