The Erythraean Sibyl

Michelangelo’s rendering of The Erythraean Sibyl

Wiki : The Erythraean Sibyl

I’ve talked about the Sibylline Oracles before but this time they are connected to Emperor Constantine.

Eusebius (Eusebius of Caesarea (/jˈsbiəs/; Greek: Εὐσέβιος τῆς Καισαρείας, Eusébios tés Kaisareías; ad 260/265 – 339/340), also known as Eusebius Pamphili (from the Greek: Εὐσέβιος τοῦ Παμϕίλου), was a historian of Christianity, exegete, and Christianpolemicist) mentions the Erythraean Sibyl in his famous work Vita Constantini – The Life of Constantine.

But which Constantine is he writing about?

Is it Constantine the Great (27 February c. 272 AD – 22 May 337 AD) ???          OR….

Constantine XI Palaiologos ( 8 February 1405 – 29 May 1453) ???

Oh. Silly me. There are 1000 and a few years difference between these two Emperors.

My Mistake or Plot Thickens?

;o)
