Marble relief of a double-headed eagle in the Church of St Demetrios in Mystras, marking the spot where Constantine XI was crowned.
What is/was The Marble Emperor?
According to Wiki :
“The King asleep in mountain (D 1960.2 in Stith Thompson’s motif index system)is a prominent folklore motif found in many folktales and legends. Thompson also termed it as the Kyffhäuser type. Some other designations are: king in the mountain, king under the mountain, or sleeping hero.”
An impressive list of names. But I’m only interested in Constantine XI Palaiologos at the moment.

Emperor Constantine is a bit of a ‘missing link,’ to many subjects already covered here.
When they are connected together…we’ll see what it all means :o)
