A few years back, being early for a dentist appointment, I wandered into the local newsagent and bought a book to read – whilst waiting.
It was M.C. Beaton — Agatha Raisin and the Haunted House.
Dentist done. Came home. Read a bit more. Threw the book across the room.
Shame.
Then I came across Ms Beaton’s Hamish Macbeth books.
Didn’t throw a single one. And after reading every Hamish book, I started the Agatha Raisin series from scratch. I think they’re called cosy mysteries.
Anyhoo – some TV company bought the rights to Hamish Macbeth and filmed several series. Much as I might like Robert Carlyle, A short, dark haired Glaswegian playing a Very Tall Red-haired Higlander (?)
And as for Agatha Raisin…she’s brilliant :o)
