About a gajillion years ago, when I was a teenager, I was obsessed with the Gothic genre of books.
From Wiki. Do it (research) yourself.
The Castle of Otranto is a book by Horace Walpole first published in 1764 and generally regarded as the first gothic novel. In the second edition, Walpole applied the word ‘Gothic’ to the novel in the subtitle – “A Gothic Story”. The novel merged medievalism and terror in a style that has endured ever since. The aesthetics of the book shaped modern-day gothic books, films, art, music and the goth subculture.[1]
And search for the name Walpole. Blahblahblah.
Yes. I have the book etc etc.
But, now soooooooooo much time has passed, I find it very hard to read these kind of books.
Like Dickens (whom I never really liked although Great Expectations was Forced on me.)
But I can still do Shakespeare. Go figure.
Now, people —
How many of us are “in-with-the-in-crowd” and how many are not?
