If the New Chronology team are right about the Sack of Constantinople in 1204 and the rise of Genghis Khan in the mid-1300’s maybe this happened…

Doggerland etc still existed in 1204 when the Hordes “crusaded” to Constantinople to avenge the murder of Andronicus I Comnenus. The scattered remnants of the Byzantine royal family fled north and ended up high, in the Steppes of Russia. Thereby surviving a world wide apocalyptic event that happened between early/mid 1200 and early/mid 1300.

These descendants then descend from the Steppes to find a world obliterated by a catastrophe. Hence Genghis and his brother Batu start to spread their once great Empire out to all lands, known and unknown, and rebuild what had just been lost.
