The Scoundrel’s Dictionary, the anonymous 18th century pamphlet, has amused me for a few years now but it is quite hard to read in the original type-setting. Too many OLDE WORLDE confusions of S and F. Anyway, in this monograph I have modernised much of the original 18th century spelling and included several annotations to, hopefully, make for an easier read. I hope you enjoy this little glimpse into the criminal life of 18th Century London.
I’ve never, ever mentioned this before but I’ve self-published two books. Both available on Amazon.
This one came from my 17th century research into the Cour des Miracles in Paris.
And an obsessive need to understand the cant language and why the POOR in history have been so maligned.
Unfortunately – my planned series of Sherlockian monographs were stopped in their tracks just as I entered the yt arena publicly.
As did my HisFic Ravens book. As did….my whole life.
Work it out?
