The house I live in is red brick. Being a Grade 2* Listed building, built in 1839 (so they say) any time we want to “do” work on it, we get visited by a man and a clipboard from the almighty Conservation Office.
The clipboard has a looooong list of DOs and Don’ts. Blah blah.
Anyway. Said men can be helpful. Like the one who showed me that our house is built in the Flemish Bond style.

I’ve no idea how or why it was made this way but it’s interesting.
Shame that the whole place needs re-pointing.
