I’ve had a thought related to the previous post.
Calling Empress Tamar an aunt/cousin is a little weird. But she was. Her grandmother was sister to Andronicus’ mother. And her, (Tamar’s) sister was the wife of Andronicus’ son and the mother of the two little boys smuggled out of Constantinople.
Consanguinity is also a Bloodline. And a practise that is frowned on now for all except the “elite.”
WE, the people, are ruled by degrees of separation!!!
Does this prove that such tight families were once a normal thing? That a “pure bloodline” was a way of life?
Mmmmn. Questions to ponder on.
