From Georgia to Turkey

This is interesting on many levels.

For me, the reverse journey rings a bell!

In 1185, two young boys were smuggled out of Constantinople after the execution of their grandfather – Andronicus I Comnenus. They were taken into the protection of their aunt/cousin Tamar, Empress of Georgia.

She looked after them for a few years and then helped them go to Trebizond, to rebuild the Comnenus family Empire. Fascinating story ;o)
