Morganatic

Confession.

This term has always confused me whenever I’ve come across it but now things are getting a little clearer, methunks.

Wiki : Morganatic Marriage

I was working on the degrees of separation thing earlier. Like Henry VIII getting a divorce from Katherine of Aragon because she’d once been married to his brother, Arthur. Great excuse for a divorce, beheaded, died. Divorced, beheaded, survived kind of life (?)

It’s gone on throughout all of history.

Morganatic though. This brings in another aspect. A “royal” married to a “lower class” spouse. Instant Divorce. Bad. How Dare You?

Again. Throughout history we have the Commoner and the Prince/Princess vibe. The concubine. The mistress. The tart with a heart. Guinevere and Lancelot. Forbidden fruit etc etc etc.

Have we, the people, been served a rotten banquet of “facts”? Have we been TOLD who we may/may not fall in love with?

Nod my head :o)

But – and this is bugging me lots – where does the Sang Real Bloodline come in?

Bum. More questions to ponder :o(
