How To Spot a Cock & BS Story in One Easy Lesson

This is EXACTLY why I’m a plotter and not a panster!

Way, Way, Waaaaay before you start to write a novel, you do maybe a year (or more) of planning.

A sure-fire way to spot a cock&BS is story is via CONTINUITY.

In the year or more – a good writer does intensive biographies for everyone and everything.

There is nothing more easy for a reader to spot than a continuity cock-up.

Like the heroine with blue eyes in Chapter 1 but brown eyes in Chapter 12.

Or the local pub that is right next to the butcher’s shop in the first half of the book but suddenly grows legs and walks across the road so that it’s now Opposite the butcher’s shop.

Or the hero with a crew cut who – a few pages later – has his raven locks billowing in the wind.

Or the tulip bulbs that are planted on the MC’s beloved Grandfather’s grave in Scene 1 but insist on blooming in November every time she revisits said grave.

OK. You get it :o)

Get your story straight. Go back to the bio’s 100,000 times if needed, just make sure the narrative is ALWAYS TRUE.

Here Endeth the Lesson
