Once upon a time…

Exogamy : the custom of marrying outside a community, clan, or tribe.

This is how life worked. The daughter carried the right the rule. Her husband was taken from outside of the clan/tribe. Hence the marriage of communities under one “family.”

I’ve always thought that Fairy Tales were a little too dark but they show this old custom time and again – in a pretty violent way.

As in the father had to be killed by the prospective son-in-law before the title of King passed from one to the other. Mmmmmn!
