The 158

I live just off the A158. What’s that?

Well. The 158 is the only MAIN route through my part of Lincolnshire that’ll take you to the coast.

The bit I travel most is from exactly in the middle of the 158. Half an hour to Lincoln, one way. Half an hour to Skegness ‘t’other.

Every year Easter Weekend comes with one single not-blessing. Skeggy Season starts. So the 158 is usually rammed tail to bumper with caravans and family cars packed with kids, pets, buckets and spades and slightly stressed and sweaty parentals.

It matters not which way I drive out of the village, I always get caught in the mad traffic.

Until now. Which makes me a little sad. Because we’re in the middle of the best, sunniest, loveliest April weather system we’ve had for many a year.

Where are the caravans? The excited kids? The burdened parents? The caravans? The traffic jams for me to shout unladylike swear words at?

Where?

Who stole ALL THE FUN? :o(
