Accents : Slavic/Scottish

If you’ve watched the video just posted about Baba Anujka (Grandmother Annie…I CANNOT make this up ! ) you might’ve noticed how easy it is for a Scot to pronounce Slavic names/words.

Is there a link thereabouts?

I’m very sad that my Scottish accent was ridiculed/mocked/bullied out of me by the time I was 8 years old.

I now speak with a perceived English accent aka RP.

RP: a social accent of English

Received Pronunciation, or RP for short, is the instantly recognisable accent often described as ‘typically British‘.

Popular terms for this accent, such as ‘the Queen’s English‘, ‘Oxford English‘ or ‘BBC English‘ are all a little misleading.
