There are also the Pomonian Islands called The Orkneys.

This has been preying on a part of my mind all day.

Pomona – Goddess of the Fruit. I know that.

I also know about William Morris and Burne-Jones’ Pomana Tapestry. Image above.

I’ve worked many a William Morris based Needlepoint over the past several decades.

But – and this is my problem – anyone who knows anything about the Orkney Isles would NEVER associate them with Pomona/Pomonian.

Or have I got something very mixed up here? Wouldn’t be the first time :o(
