Teutonic Order

OR : Ordo domus Sanctæ Mariæ Theutonicorum Hierosolymitanorum

I have a little bit of knowledge about this Order. Founded in Jerusalem around 1190 (dates vary) before moving to TRANSYLVANIA in the early 13th c.

They came together to protect the Outremer States of the Holy Land (!)

This is perfect.

If – as NC postulates – that Jerusalem was in reality Yoros where Andronicus I Comnenus was executed in 1185, more sense can be made of the time it took to avenge the death of Christ.

How many generations are in 1,000 odd years?

From 1185 to the early 1190’s is much more believable. Especially when you add in the Seige of Constantinople in 1204.

This puts everything within one generation.

Moving backwards in order to go forwards…It also coincides beautifully with Scota’s husband being a Greek prince (Paphlagonia, anyone?)

So – I kind of understand now why the early Scots spoke not just the Gaelic but also Teutonic :o)

Don’t fret. It makes sense to me.
