She was the second wife of Henri Quatre, mother of Louis XIII (husband of Anne of Austria), Gaston d’Orleans (husband of Marie de Montpensier), Elisabeth (wife of Felipe IV of Spain), Chrestienne (wife of Victor Amadeus I, Duke of Savoy) and Henriette Marie (wife of Charles I Stuart of England).

But she spent half her life battling her husband’s bastard children. Mostly César and Alexandre de Vendôme, who used to call her THE FAT BANKER FROM LOMBARDY.
