Left-Handed

I bought the book above years ago because of personal history.

And watching John Lydon’s full interview (previous post) reminded me.

My Mum was left-handed. So was her 5 year older sister, Aunty Maureen. But when Maureen went through school, she was severely punished for writing with her left hand.

And no. They were “nominally” Methodist. Not Catholic.

Maureen even now, in her late 70’s, still operates as a RightHand person.

BTW, she told me this herself in a private conversation when I dared to complain about Mum always leaving the kettle facing towards a left-handed person!

Mum was not subjected to the same abuse and lived her whole life left-handed.

It must’ve been a gene mutation from their natural father, Clarence, whom I never knew although I met him once when I was about 5 years old.

The one and only other left-handed person in my blood and extended family is that Crazy Welshy Partner in Crime with whom I’ve travelled far and who keeps getting me into trouble abroad!!!!!!!!!!

Oh. Eeerm. OK. Together, equally, we get each other into trouble.

P.S. HOW did the author find out that Joan of Arc was left-handed? Was he there?
