Despite the modern MS History “stories” (!) It took a long time to get rid of….sorry….modernise British Rail.

Dr Beeching and his pals in government may have won in the end but, there were certain routes that survived the Brave New BR plan.

Namely the route from King’s Cross that goes all the way from London, up the East Coast of England and into Scotland.

I can still remember as a very young child travelling down from Scotland, via Waverley (Edinburgh) into Lincolnshire on trains that were very similar to the ones used in the video below.

But then – anything North and East of London was/is/and ever more shall be #RETARDED.
