In the early years of the 20th century the phrase, See you, Oscar, was Glaswegian Slang.
It meant – See you, Oscar Slater/See you later.
There are many reasons why I love Sherlock Holmes and Arthur Conan Doyle.
George Edalji was not the only Real Life person whom Conan Doyle saved. There was also Oscar Slater.
The former was the son of a Parsi Vicar, the latter a German Jewish immigrant in Glasgow.
The story of Oscar and Arthur is less well known than George and Arthur but it deserves a read.
