Great Success!

The cable coat is just about finished. Woohoo.

Yes. Well, spotted. It’s a different colour.

I was half way through the first one when I realised that I didn’t have enough wool to finish so – I started again.

And I’m kind of thrilled. I thought it would take until November to knit one coat, and I’ve made one and a half by the beginning of August.

The coat above has been washed and placed (damp) on the tailor’s dummy to help me shape it. Fibres are easier to manipulate when wet, so I call this the “Stretchy/Pully” phase.

It gives me a chance to see the garment in situ and decide how to finish. I’ve already decided that I want a proper collar on this, so that’s the next job.

Knit, wash, shape, stretchy, pully, look again and make my mind up about the fastenings.

Great Success :o)
