Wooden Spoon

an imaginary prize said to be awarded to the person who is last in a race or other competition.

I’ve watched Ariel’s video several times and each time something far too DEEP is triggered.

When I was a little girl…….

Parentals were very sociable. Parties in our small house were common and frequent.

On night I was so distressed, I sat on the stairs in despair and started picking the wallpaper off the wall.

If anyone has ever done that, you will know how addictive it can be. Oooops!

Next morning, Mum knew who had done it.

When I was tiny, her correction weapon of choice was the dreaded Wooden Spoon.

That way she could – truthfully – say that she’d never laid a finger on me.

TMI?

Truth and wooden spoons HURT!

P.S. And it wasn’t the kind of wooden spoon that we buy today. It was a hard, last a lifetime, SOLID wood spoon!
