Family Photo – 1915

My beautiful second cousin (Mum’s cousin) has sent me some treasured photos of our shared ancestors.

The photo above is of my grandfather (Clarence)the eldest, aged 9 in 1915. His mother and two younger brothers.

Clarence was my Mum’s real father. Annie and he divorced when Mum was about 6/7 years old and I only remember meeting him once in my life – on a summer holiday to Norfolk. I remember meeting a very ancient lady too – my Great-Grandmother who shouted at us kids…“I may be half blind but my hearing is excellent!”

Below is Clarence as Nan/Annie would have known him when they first met.

I can see why she fell for him. A very handsome, raffish, devil-may-care sort of man. But at least he could tie a Windsor Knot :o)
