One of the Absolute Pleasures of living in a Victorian House is…the Pantry.
Mine is gorgeous. Not huge but to the right are three double glass-fronted cupboards with cupboards, deep drawers and cupboards below. Above is about three feet of space.
To the left are shelves and cupboards with about three feet of space above.
There is also a sash window straight ahead with pipes and a stop-cock underneath where, once upon a time, the butler’s sink would have been.
We call it THE WAR RESERVE.
Where tinned, dried, pickled stuff is stored.
BUT – it’s also a Library, DVD store, chuck all the unwanted bills place, tool shed, cloakroom, painter and decorator store, empty cardboard box hangout etc etc.
