When Margaret Mitchell first wrote Gone With The Wind, her MC was called Pansy.

It was her agent/editor who suggested a name change. Pansy was….urrrrm…too fluffy for THIS heroine.

Think again, MM. Think about Mars – the God of War.

Hence – today WE know her as Scarlett.
