Crann Tara aka The Fiery Cross was, once upon a time…
In Scotland, the fiery cross, known as the Crann Tara, was used as a declaration of war. The sight of it commanded all clan members to rally to the defence of the area.
It then became hijacked by….well read this!
And used to destroy rather than unite.
I KNOW – because she has talked about it often – that Diana Gabaldon had a fight on her hands when she named one of her novels THE FIERY CROSS.
It’s a book about Scotland. She is American. She understood the implications that WOULD be made. The hatred she would bring down. But – in the end – Herself won that battle and the book was published with that title!
