I will always and forever be grateful to my Mum and Dad for letting my brothers and I make our own choice of life path.
Despite years of suggestions – Mum kept throwing being a NURSE at me. Dad stayed silent.
In the end – aged 17 – when I Went My Own Way – they both supported me by actions if not words.
I did the same to my boys. When eldest was a point away from the UNI of his choice and we were going through the BS UNI Clearing system online, he said…“Mum. I don’t WANT to go to UNIVERSITY.”
I said…“OK. Let’s stop this crap then.”
aka You Can Do Anything You Want To Do vibe.
I’ve just said to same son – I’m listening to Dolores on my earphones.
OK, Mum :o)
He knows who Dolores is. He spent the F1RST two years of his life in Ulster!
