Hever Castle

A few years back, we were staying in London with family and decided to have a trip to Hever Castle.

It was a glorious summer day and the whole place just blew my eyes wide with wonder at the beauty of the place.

BUT – there was always an underlying sadness to the building. I (at that time) thought it had something to do with the “tragic” story of Anne Boleyn. I feel differently about that now :o)

The Astors and the Gettys have a history of “restoring” ancient buildings in the UK.

Getty got hold of Sutton Place. Astor trashed…sorry, Restored… Hever.

What did they remove?

P.S. Both houses are closely linked with the reign of Henry VIII.

Heyho!
