Brick by Brick

Watching these kind of programmes fascinate me in so many ways. This Mystery 15th Century House that was dismantled brick by brick is an enigma.

I’ve never been to Pembrokeshire but know a little about it through my research into the Ravens of Dinefwr.

Nest ferch Rhys was the older sister of Gruffydd and Hywel. When their father died in battle, she was sent to the court of William Rufus as a hostage/prize. She caught the eye of Rufus’ younger brother, Henry. Who was the third son of William the Conqueror. She bore Henry a child but, as Henry was about to become King of England, she was given to one of his “men” as a wife… Gerald of Windsor…who became the Constable of Pembroke Castle in the 11th/12th century.

Nest has gone down in history as the Helen of Wales…the grandmother of Gerald of Wales and the ancestress of the Irish FitzGerald’s.

Where was I?
