Bellingham revealed in her 2010 autobiography Lost & Found: My Story: “maybe if my private life had been happier I would have enjoyed doing it more. As it was, I felt I was living a lie. Being the nation’s favourite mum on screen and going home to an abusive relationship was heartbreaking […] the irony was horrific. Here I was, the Oxo mum, hiding behind closed doors, isolated from her friends and family.”
I have fond memories of Lynda Bellingham. I remember her being interviewed after stopping her “cancer” treatment and saying that she was desperate for one last Christmas at home with her family. She didn’t make that Christmas.
To ME she will always be the OXO Mum. From the days when adverts told stories of REAL Family Life.
I can’t remember when the Bisto/Oxo adverts changed from proper family to dysfunctional effed up family. Early/mid/late 90’s?
Anyhoo – Lynda as MUM. Feeding her annoying but MUCH LOVED family :o)
Bless her.
P.S. I have a complaint (!) about modern OXO. It has NO SALT in anymore. We need salt. Our bodies need salt. We sweat and cry and bleed salt but don’t hold it. It needs to be replenished. A LOWSALT Diet ? ? ?
Even animals are given Salt Licks. Check it out!
