Doubting Thomas

There is a HUGE gap between Beyond All Reasonable Doubt and Circumstantial Evidence or the Balance of Probabilities.

Because of my previous life, I’ve been a strictly Beyond ALL REASONABLE DOUBT kind of person.

A bit like Thomas. Don’t tell me. I have to see it with my own eyes…etc.

But – there is also room for the Circumstantial Evidence. Those things that can NOT be proved beyond doubt need to be seen through the weight of circumstance, of evidence, of probability. These are quantifiable too and can be counted.

When the number is high enough, the scales TILT. For or Against. Depending on the trial. And if it’s worth the time and effort needed to second-guess actions taken, or words spoken.

Oh. I’ve just talked myself into a Life Lesson there!

I adore Mark John Maguire’s uploads. His delivery, his drawings, his investigations into these long gone trials. His conclusions.

I wish he’d post more but the work needed for each episode must be immense.

A Surfeit of Cyanide.
