VAINGLORY

Vainglory by Geraldine McCaughrean is one of those HistFic books that is a keeper on my shelves.

Vainglory : excessive or ostentatious pride especially in one’s achievements. 2 : vain display or show : vanity.

This book starts in 1429 (Jehanne d’Arc : Siege of Orléans !)

An oft quoted line from this novel is – “He knew in that moment how God felt on Good Friday when He saw on what He had wasted Creation.”

As they say in American Werewolf in London filum… OH. I prefer MY (mis)quote, said yesterday to someone going out in the dark, in the snow…STAY ON THE PATH!

P.S. Those with sharp eyes will have seen a very young Rik Mayall and Brian Glover. They both acted together again in an episode of BOTTOM. Useless facts r me :o(

P.P.S. Whenever we’d find ourselves in a strange place whilst travelling. Hungry. Thirsty. Dying for a pee. We’d always aim for the local pub.

There have been many Slaughtered Lamb pubs on my travels. And all…nope…most of them were wonderful :o)

STAY ON THE ROAD. KEEP CLEAR OF THE MOORS.
