The Butcher, The Baker, The Costa Coffee…

The Newsagent, the Post Office and three supermarkets. The chip shop, the kebab shop, the Chinese Takeaway. A bank. Three petrol stations.

I live in a village 1 mile from the town. Quite a famous town – in the small scheme of things.

Famous for its Antique Shops, Second hand Book Shops and THE MARKET (since the 1200’s)

Apart from the butcher, the baker etc…NOT ONE SINGLE SHOP is open for business. NOT even one of the five Charity Shops.

Not a pub. Not an Antique Shop or book shop or hairdresser or barber or cobbler or ironmonger.

You can post your letters, buy your newspaper, get petrol and some food.

That’s IT!

There are so many to let or for sale signs up where there were once independent retailers. I know these people personally. I used to be one of them :o(

It boggles my heart to see this destruction. At least we could recover from the BLITZ!
