This morning I went back to my Codex/Bible for the Ravens.

Well. As seen above, there is more than just one lever arch file of research notes.

I stopped at the story of Mabel. Wife of Roger de Montgomery, Earl of Shrewsbury who was one of William the Bastard’s bezzie mates.

She was the mother of many children. Most notably Hugh – who died from an arrow in his eye shot by Magnus Barelegs the Viking King of Norway. Robert, nicknamed Le Diable. And Arnulf who (in MS History speak) suddenly disappeared from the records.

Mabel was beheaded by two intruders as she had a bath. Said intruders/murderers expiated their sins by enrolling on the “F1RST CRUSADE” with William the Bastard’s eldest son, Robert Curthose in 1096. To KILL the Saracens.

I’ll not go into MY thoughts on the Crusades or the Sack of Constantinople in 1204 (the only real Crusade to get rid of those who had crucified their leader in 1185) that’s just too much info for too many!

Talk about Horrible History ?

No wonder so many are so fecked up today when they are force-fed “facts” like….It’s OK to cut off the head of a wife and mother. Just go on a Crusade and/or give us a load of money and WE (the Church Militant…Jehanne d’Arc reference) will wipe your soul clean.
