Hazel Whips

No. Stop that right now…NO!

I have about 5 or 6 or more huge…HUGE hazel trees in the garden and today I’ve been part-coppicing – as in cutting hazel whips.

Why?

I’m weaving an arch for my flowering sweet peas and the whips are thin and pliable and be bent and tied. Into arches.

It’s quite funny walking through woodland with 20foot high bendy sticks that catch on the branches and then spring back and whip you across the face :o)
