Himself is an ESSENTIAL worker on the Highways & Byways.
He’s in the 2nd week of a 2 week stint on 24hour ER. Emergency Rescue.
Those who do his thankless job get spat at, screamed at, eggs thrown at, death threats and threats of being run over by the driver of a car who hasn’t got a second to live.
Eldest and I went into town this morning. No matter which route we take home (apart from the miles out of the way scenic route) we are confronted by a four way traffic light system.
Well. Something major happened today and all four ways were not controlled by the lights but by men in PPE holding stop/go signs.
Son and I KNOWING what usually happens in these sitchs sat quietly waiting for 15 minutes. Not the man in the car behind us.
He revved. He beeped. He got out, hitched his trousers up and shouted multiple obscenities at the men trying their hardest to prevent another major accident. He got back into his car, threw his hands in the air (I watched him in my rear view mirror)…Shouted several more threats out of the car window, got all hot and sweaty etc etc.
Did he not see the Ambulance three vehicles ahead? Or the local bus that was now way behind the timetable?
Oh No. It was all about HIM HIM HIM.
