I’m confused here and need help (?)

A while back I posted a post and put in there…N.S.E.W.

This is how I was brought up to recite the points of the compass. And then I had a mad thought (again!)

I’m not a Catholic and have never done the Sign of the Cross as an act of worship but NSEW made me think of this.

How do Catholics sign the cross? Up. Down. Left. Right? NSEW?

A quick search on t’internet has muddied my brain even more :o(

Offensive? Moi?
