The Order of the Lanyard

Honi Soit Qui Mal Y Pense.

I translate that as : Evil Be To Him Who Evil Thinks. Dunno if it’s correct but what the hey.

This is a quote that has followed me throughout my life and most people in the UK will have seen it. Right now – I’m researching the ancient Order of the Garter.

Only 24 of the great & good are allowed to be knights of the garter at any one time. Marie de Rohan’s husband, Claude, was so honoured in 1625 by Charles I Stuart. He was allowed to wear the garter with the above quote on it.

I think I’ve just be knighted (or blighted ? !)

It was unavoidable. The only place available to buy the ingredients for today was Tesco. So, I girded my girdle and set forth. Ready for battle.

Three steps inside the bloody place and I get stopped by a uniform asking me muffled questions.

Leeloo Dallas Exempt-i-Pass.

Halfway through the interrogation, Geordie, a lovely friend who works there, shouted me over.

Here ya gan, pet. I’ll gae you a lanyard.

He’s called Geordie for a reason.

There you have it. I’m now OFFICIALLY : LEELOO DALLAS, Knight of the Go-Away-And-Stop-Asking-Me-Stupid-Questions Pass

I wrapped it around my left hand and acted a bit dotty :o) :o) ;o)

I asked Geordie if I had to hand the thing back in and he just shook his head and did that motion with his hands that says…Keep It. I know nothing. Yay.
