The Welsh Marches

When the boys were little we decided to leave the HMForces and move to the Marches.

Didn’t happen but I got to know this area quite well. As in – actually being there rather than researching it for a book that wouldn’t be started until many years later. About the aftermath of the Norman Conquest and Wales and Ireland and Scotland and Norway and etc.

This area is what first drew me to Phil Rickman’s books. He’s an incomer to the Marches and also got caught up in the lore and legends of the place.

I never got to Hay-on-Wye, though.

WHY did this turn up in my stream today? Another Dandelion Dead but from the POV of a man who worked in Herbert Armstrong’s office AND lived in his house.

Strange. But. True.
