Hywel ap Rhys : Castrated

Hywel was the youngest surviving son of Rhys ap Tewder who was killed in 1093 by the Norman Invaders.

Hywel was captured as a child, along with his sister Nest. Both of whom became playthings of the French invaders. 1066 and all that.

Hywel’s elder brother escaped to Ireland. He was the heir to the throne of Deheubarth.

Nest was impregnated by Henry I.

Hywel was castrated in prison by the Montgomery.

So began the research for Ravens of Dinefwr.

BTW : Anne Rice wrote a novel called Cry To Heaven.

My bad. I wilfully entered a world full of Castrati.

If only I knew then what I know now :o(
