With the framework of her own world beginning to crack, Merrily must venture into areas of mystery and menace; the secrets of the border’s pagan past… ‘Ancient history, violent deaths, feuds, intrigues and murder. A most original sleuth.’ – The Times ‘What I remember most was the sound of his breath. A hollow sound, as though he was drawing breath from somewhere else. Afterwards, he just said goodnight. I don’t think he even remembered my name.’ Hereford is home to the elite warriors of the SAS. The place where their secrets are hidden . . . secrets that go well beyond pain and can wreck marriages and private lives. When Merrily Watkins loses a friend in the regiment, she’s drawn into a place where no woman is welcome, to investigate profound mysteries linked to the area’s brutal pagan past.
I adore this Phil Rickman/Merrily Watkins book. So many connections to MY world.
The only SAS man I’ve “known” was Welsh. He Refused to talk to anyone about his story, but I was this ” (inch?) close to being able to write it.
And my sis in law was married at the SAS HQ ‘cos her Welsh Dad worked there.
Funny that the camp was cleared of every thing/person/secret that particular weekend.
Anyhoo – and this has nothing to do with FAF Elite Warriors but MY world is now so fucked up that I’ve called in a TRUMP card.
A man who CAN find and reveal every single name that I’ve collected this past year via t’internet :o)
I think this might be “What goes around, Comes around.”
Saturn – the PLANET of Karma
Newton’s 3rd Law – “For EVERY action there’s an opposite and EQUAL reaction.
The Gypsy Rule of 3 – “What you do to others, comes back 3 fold on you.”
Or the BIBLE – “Do as YOU would be done by.” Or some such thingy
