Despite the MS History BS about Ninon, she’s always been a bit of a heroine to me.
So much so that I named my range of hand-knits after her.
I have two biographies and many articles about this famous “courtesan” and her life.
So what drew me to her?
Well. She is tagged as an eminent 17th century, Frenchwoman who played a major role in the Free-Thinker movement of her time.
MS History has her and all her friends down as “Libertine.” A great word (the name of my old shop!!?!!) that was wrecked by the Earl of Rochester and his smutty poetry :o(
Bloody historical research. What’s it EVER done for me? ? ?
