I know quite a bit about primary sources and using them. It’s automatic for me but I’ve just had a thought.

1761…and NO…these are NOT dates. 

They are the numbers of the entries made into these registers.

Is this where so much confusion lies?

The total ignorance of how to use these sources that has risen to a confusion that has not only been unforeseen but has been let to run rampant?
